First timer, ducked in with Marnie the business partner for a business meeting and was I glad I did, here's why: * Cool, bright, cheery, red, artsy decor * Papa was strolling around outside the kitchen in the dining room * Small and cozy * Full liquor * Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service! We started with the Olivia's Cazuelita appetizer. See photo: $17 for a appetizer bowl of shrimp, scallops, calamari, mushrooms, and chorizo sauteed in garlic, white wine, and olive oil. It's a popular menu item that comes out of the kitchen HOT and sweetly sizzling. And it tastes amazing. Can't wait to have it again. 3 lil breadsticks accompany, so you can sop. SCORE!! I had the "Chicken Special" (name forgotten) for $13 bucks. Chicken breast grilled with black beans, yellow rice, and fried plantains. Cheese, red onions, and garlic were melted atop the chicken and it was a hit. Marnie enjoy Chicharrones de Pollo and they were quite tasty. I plan to return soon and sample mas tapas. Vino tambien. I shall report more then. Cabeza OUT!

Ummmmm where to start....I love this place, however I think prices a little high. The chicken soup was AMAZING!!! the chicken empanadas were AMAZING too, the Parmesan fries were tasty!!! Shrimps al ajillo were delicious!!! Plantains were divine!!!! and the Flan was to die for!!!! hahahahahah. The food is truly excellent. I wish that the empanadas would be beaked instead of fried, it will be much healthier. The Service was good, although we waited a little bit to get our check, but not too bad. All in all its a pretty good restaurant if you want to experience an explosion of amazing flavors in your mouth.

I really love this place! The food is very tasty and service is great as well. I have been here a few times for lunch and we were finally able to go last Saturday for Valentine's Day! We had the Paella which was amazing!! Please note that they recommend you make reservations for the Paella since they make it fresh for you and you don't have to wait a long time when you arrive. While we waited for our Paella, we enjoyed wine, house made sangria which I loved and we had the coconut shrimp appetizer. For all the times we have been to Papa's Tapas I haven't had a dish that I did not enjoy. Very good always and great service! We will be returning soon!

Most amazing paella. I have been waiting my whole life for a place to open in Palm beach that can make a real paella. It leaves you wanting more!!

Amazing Spanish traditional place. Priced on the higher side. The fish portion weren't as big as expected.

I really enjoyed my visit here. However, i am knocking them down to three stars for the lack of vegetarian-options. When I looked over the menu, I debated on getting a salad. However, I could not justify paying $14 for lettuce and fruit (Tropical Salad). Instead, I split two items with a friend. The rest of the table had more of a selection since they were all meat eaters. We started with the complimentary bread and dipping sauce. I did not try the dipping sauce because I was going to assume it had some type of chicken stock. My friend and boyfriend tried it and said it tasted very plain. I didn't even bother asking the waitress if it was veggie-friendly. The bread was tasty though. The first thing we ordered to split was the cheese quesadilla. It was really big and plenty for two people to share. It was cooked perfectly, and I thought it tasted good. The other item we split was the cheese croquetas. It was also cooked well and tasted yummy. However, I just ended up ordering a ton of cheese and feeling bloated. From what I did eat, I really liked it. My friends all enjoyed this place.

Where do I start? We were drawn into this little gem by it's catchy name and inviting tables alfresco. Inside the atmosphere is chill. Good music, beautiful art and the friendly staff all greeted us as we were sat immediately. The wait staff explained the menu and specials and we jumped headlong into 5 different tapas including garbanzo (delicious), meatballs with almonds (!), chicken al ajillo (garlic), wings in a sweet ish tomato salsa and out of this world open face shredded pork sandwiches. All perfectly seasoned and piping hot. We ended the meal with the perfect cortadito and homemade donuts. We have enough leftovers for a midnight snack and breakfast. We are locals and will definitely be coming back!

We came on a moderately busy Friday evening and were seated promptly. The restaurant is family-owned and, if you're new, they will tell you who is working where that night within the restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. We had the red sangria, which was delicious and fruity. The sauteed calamari was delicious, cooked to a tender perfection. We had the cilantro mango chicken, which was out of this world. If you don't dig cilantro, obviously, this isn't the plate for you. Cilantro has reached boyfriend status for me, though. We also had the basa and shrimp. It was also awesome, not fried, served smothered in a luscious sauce.
(5)Janet J.
The lunch portions are huge. The decor and the artwork is fantastic. And the wait staff is friendly and efficient.
(5)Susana S.
I love this place.! Try the skirt steak :)
(5)Debbie G.
Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, however, I had a fish wrap that took a long time to come out even though the waiter said it wouldn't take the allotted 30 minutes. It was more rice and beans than fish, quite yummy and filling, but too salty for my taste. I would return and get a salad which is always safe and a lot healthier than the wrap.

We dined at Papa's last week and were fairly happy with our meal. I got the Salmon and Shrimp in the Verde Sauce. I liked the seafood a lot, but found the sauce to be a little on the unintersting side. We also ordered the olive appetizer (which was excellent) as well as the garbanzo beans (which were also excellent). The service was very attentive and we were in and out fairly quickly. The group was happy with their meals overall. I think we would likely go back.
(3)Mike C.
Spanish, family style. We had Liz, who also worked behind the bar. She was really great. No rush, great advise on what to order. She knew the tap beers and made great suggestions. The green salad was simple, the dressing makes it terrific. Shrimp was awesome, Chicken Quesadilla was large enough to feed three and really good. No rush to have us leave, we actually had to ask for the check. Respectful of our time at our table.......and that was a turn on for sure. How often do you go to a place where you can sit back after eating and not feel rushed. This place has it together.

One of our favorite restaurants had a lengthy wait and I recalled that the highly touted Papas Tapas was close by. While I enjoyed my pork dish immensely, my girlfriend's mango basa was fried and so salty it was rendered inedible long before it made it's way to the table. We were also shocked the fish was fried without any mention of that preparation in the item's description. Had she known she would have avoided the dish entirely and made another selection. I was rooting for the mango salsa as one would root for their favorite super hero. I prayed the salsa would counter the source of my angst. The mango salsa with it's sweet flavor quickly surrendered and stood no chance of countering the salt laden fish. I almost thought I was eating bacalao, but the realization hit me after each bite of fearful hesitation. After sampling the dish several times it was apparent it was not going to improve. My pork on the other hand was mouth watering. The downside is my girlfriend's dish was such a culinary trainwreck that she refuses to give the restaurant another chance. The ambience was also so loud I found myself yelling across our tiny table. If I only knew sign language...
(3)Scot S.
The food is great the empanadas are great they put raisins in the beef ones the chicken cascades are very good Too much cilantro in the chicken soup for be but it was still tasty will come back
(4)Julie A.
Enjoyed a late lunch here - avoided dinner because we had heard how noisy it gets when the restaurant is full. We ordered three tapas dishes between two of us, added a flan to share and that was more than enough. They were also generous with the hot bread rolls and a tasty dip to begin with. The Chorizo al Jerez in olive oil, garlic & wine was exceptional - this one gets 5 stars. We also really enjoyed the pork empanadas (see my photo) - another very good dish. Unfortunately, we couldn't say the same about the roasted shredded pork Montaditos - it was described as famous, but it underwhelmed us and brought our overall rating down to 3 stars. Tender, but just not very tasty, a bit meh - added a piece or two of chorizo to it, to give it more flavor. The flan was spectacular - absolute heaven, and not a huge portion, so it was just right to finish off the meal. All in all, lovely decor, nice atmosphere, friendly and professional server (we didn't catch her name, but she was from Barcelona), Papa's Tapas is a welcome break away from the crowds of Atlantic Ave. We seemed to be in a bit of a pork-menu mood, so next time would like to try out some of their salads and seafood dishes.

Excellent spot in Delray! Food is very authentic and tasty. This is a must experience in Delray!
(5)Joe B.
Great food! Their prices are a little high, but the food is excellent. Hard to believe this is the same restaurant that was on lake Ida and congress not too long ago.
(4)Cinthia L.
I absolutely love Papas Tapas! The service is top notch and the owner is very personable. The sangria was delicious as well as my meal fish and shrimp. The food wasn't overly seasoned or oily. Everything tasted fresh.
(5)Eve K.
Where to begin... First, they told us to sit at any table. We sat at one that had not yet been cleaned and they began to set the table without cleaning it. The women's bathroom was broken so we had to use the men's, which has a broken door lock. I ordered a cheese quesadilla. The menu noted that quesadillas come with peppers and onions. When I ordered, the waitress asked whether I wanted the peppers and onions. I said Yes. I then received a chicken quesadilla. I reminded the waitress that I had asked for cheese. She then replaced the chicken quesadilla with a cheese quesadilla with no peppers or onions. I told her that the menu stated that peppers and onions come with the quesadillas. She responded that this excludes cheese quesadillas and she acknowledged that the menu was unclear. Although she acknowledged that the menu was incorrectly worded, she would not honor what was written on the menu. Instead, she gave me the choice of either eating the cheese quesadilla without peppers and onions or not eating. So after a very long wait, I did not eat lunch.

I love Papas Tapas! I went with a meetup group called, The Cultural Singles! It was a culinary around the world tour: Spain. We started at the bar with amazing sangrias. Michael was our fun bartender. I ordered Pulpo Tapas! Octopus! Sautéed octopus with fresh garlic, olive oil and wine. OMG! It's a must order. It was still sizzling when they brought it to me. Thank you Deanna, our waitress, for the recommendation! So succulent! For my entree, I ordered the Shredded Roasted Pork. Slow roasted pork marinated in their homemade mojo sauce then sauteed with onions. It's served with saffron rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. Nom, nom, nom! It's a very busy place, so I suggest a reservation be made. I highly recommend this place and I am so happy it's nearby.

Best Taco Tuesday offering in Delray! My family & I usually go to another restaurant in the Pineapple Grove section of downtown for Taco Tuesday. The wait was absurdly long this past week so we walked a few blocks to Papa's Tapas. I don't think we'll be going back to the other restaurant again! Not that the other establishment isn't great, but Papa's Tapas is THAT. MUCH. BETTER. When I say "the best pork tacos in Delray,' I sincerely mean it! Our server was a gem & the other waitstaff was happy to visit our table, keep our water glasses full & have a polite, casual conversation. Everyone was so kind, accommodating & friendly. Tacos were $3 a piece. I'm all about that price tag :) Atmosphere is sophisticated but not stuffy. There were several customers at the bar, so I'd be willing to bet they offer some great cocktails. Although we went for Taco Tuesday, we did peruse the regular menu & they have tons of options. It's pricey, but if those pork tacos are any indication, whatever you eat at Papa's will be incredible. We will DEFINITELY be back!!
(5)Lauren f.
Have been here many time and always leave happy. Love the sangria, tostones, and basa & shrimp. I've also had an amazing grilled chicken dish and some kind of sautéed pork that is out of this world.
(5)Rachel M.
Most importantly, the food is delicious! On to the other details: From the minute you step into Papa's Cafe, its like accepting an invitation to dinner: you can expect amazing food, excellent hospitality and an invitation to return. Within 5 minutes they were calling me by name and sharing their history. I ordered the Chicken in Manigua: moist, grilled chicken served with a fresh green salad with the most amazing of flavors (cilantro, balsamic vinegar, tomatoes, onions). Your choice of yellow or white rice, red or black beans and sweet plantains are also included. I also ordered as an additional side, a beef empanada and Jupina (pineapple flavored soda). The food was amazing and the portions were quite huge. Although "lunch-sized" I had enough for later, which was hard considering how delicious everything was. The empanada was warm, the filling was full of flavor and in my opinion a strong first prize candidate for Best Empanada in South Florida; I'm just saying! *They will soon be relocating to a bigger location in Pineapple Grove*

Dinner for 2-What happen?- was there a month ago- since then-- food down- prices went up!!! croquettes were fried so much they were just about burnt- could not taste anything but burnt breading chorizo was good Mushrooms lacked flavor needed more herbs or fresh parsley we asked for more bread- since there were 2 -egg size-- rolls brought to us in a big basket-- good with hot tapas-- so again we got 2 very small rolls again-- we had to laugh at that one! split a Basa fish special-- $$$- was so salty and the fried plantains were raw After i got home and thinking about it-- I thought BASA was a bad fish I looked up Basa fish on the Web-- oh geee- one of the worst ratings for any fish on health standards!-- a type of cheap catfish farm raised in Vietnam in filth and human waste! and is a cheap bad frozen product! We asked for 1/2 carafe of Sangria- and not realizing it due to conversation we drank form it and the realized it was a full carafe- our waitress made a mistake-- for 2 people i t was to much,, bit the bullet on that and left a good amount in the jug- and the Sangria still needed more flavor as last time or waitress was nice but it was so noisy and busy its a good thing she repeated our order- we would not have gotten what we ordered ,she wrote the wrong things down-- including the wrong size Sangria,, but we let it slide We asked for Flan for dessert--since last time they didnt have it-- still not sure why a Spanish type restaurant was out of it on not such a busy night The waitress said they have Strawberry Flan- for dessert- really Strawberry flan?- dont ask-- a very small round, odd consistency- not like real flan with a squirt of canned whipped cream---- Where was the real simple nice size chunk of homemade Flan- ?? not to be found Might give it another try-- they work very hard in there- and they all are nice! i think they can not handle that amount business properly expect service to be a little slow and a very noisy place

Had a great lunch at Papa's today - an excellent bass with salsa verde, paired with a superb sangria. Papa and his family haven't let us down yet.

There seems to be another listing under Papa's Cafe, which is the same restaurant, same location so I'm guessing there was a name change recently. yelp.com/biz/papas-cafe-… I found this place on Yelp because E. Boca/Delray lacks some great Latin cuisine but that notion might change after today. Papa's is located in Pineapple Grove, which is basically a few miles north of Atlantic Ave (Mecca of Delray). Parking is a challenge and even finding it might be a challenge if you don't have GPS but once you do, you have found one of your favorite new spots to eat at. First and foremost, the food is great. It's juicy, packed with flavor and there is plenty of it. The portions here are very generous and their lunch prices are equally as generous for the area. I had the Chicken Dulcinea which is topped with shrimp, mushrooms and their homemade pisto sauce. Its served with rice, beans and plantains and and all that you get for $10. The chicken wasn't a puny piece, it was a Balco injected piece of meat that deserved its own zip code. Their menu is pretty diverse; quesadillas, wraps, salads, paellla, and an array of seafood dishes that I will make an effort to try all before the year is done. Their calamari looked great too, nice big rings not overly-fried. I'm getting hungry typing up this review and I ate less than an hour ago too. The staff was nice, hospitable and the restaurant is very clean inside. The food was excellent and the prices are awesome. What's not to love?
(4)Tara J.
Ok, this could easily have been a 5-star review, and the only reason it isn't is because they are limited on their vegetarian options. Most tapas places I've visited have a plethora of veggie options on the menu, but Papa's Tapas could do better in this area. Now that I've said that, I must say that the food we ordered was AMAZING! Because there weren't any veggie entree selections available, I broke my seafood rule and ordered a seafood dish anyhow. HOLY MOLY! Soooooo good! The Mariscada was seriously tasty and PERFECT (for a seafood dish)! The flavor was amazing (ok, I've said that twice now)! My husband had the Sauteed Shrimp with pista sauce (a flavorful red sauce with veggies) and loved it also. We started with the Hot Tapas menu and ordered the Kalen's Champiñones -- a little pricey at $11 for a vegetarian dish, but oh so good! Several of their menu items can be ordered without chorizo, and in effect, turning it into a vegetarian item, however, each entree comes with rice, beans, and plantains. Both the rice and beans are prepared in a chicken broth, so take note of that if you're adverse to chicken and ask for white rice, no beans, and sweet plantains. I will heartily eat here again, and may just take a browse through as many of the Tapas items as I can stomach, and skip the entree next time. Oh, almost forgot...get the white sangria. Seriously. You will love it! Great ambiance, nice vibe, fantastic service, and really good food! You really can't lose here.

Place is superb! Food is very fresh, service is quick & friendly. Best Cuban spot I've found in a while. The owner is the chef, which says a lot. Totally recommend!
(5)R B.
As Delray locals, we love Papas Tapas! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. The staff is pleasant and attentive and we we've been greeted by the owner each time we've dined. Like most good restaurants in Downtown Delray the crowd can be busy and sometimes there's a wait (especially for a dish like paella) but it's always worth it in the end. If you're stuck in the rat race mentality save yourself the trip (and plane ticket money) and have a staycation in the snow :)

The best eatery. Loved it! Fresh, tender and delicious! Make reservations. Its crowded.
(5)Julie M.
I love the mini empanadas for apps! My sister had the skirt steak which was so good! Very tender and tasteful w the mushrooms on top . I had the pork and I gotta say it's the best lechon (pullpork) I've ever tried . I've gone to a lot of cuban restaurants but this place makes it so delicious ! Very tender , full of flavor and not too salty . Sangria was great and the service was awesome! I highly recommend it .

We had a very nice experience at Papa's Tapas. Service was great - attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very good, and plentiful. Even parking was easy for a Delray Beach spot on a Saturday night. The only drawback is that the place is noisy. I would definitely go back!

I feel like I need to scream from the rooftops about this quaint little Spanish eatery. I don't want to be considered *that* crazy, so instead I will share my experience with my fellow Yelpers. I was first introduced to this place by a friend of mine. I was at his work and he ordered delivery. When his shredded roast pork lunch arrived, he was generous enough to share with me. Delish! Today I thought I would give Papa's a try on my own. I reviewed their menu online and called in to place my order. Chicken in Manigua lunch for me! $6.95 and it included yellow rice, a side of beans and plantains. Yes, you read all of that correctly. I also threw in an order of a ham and a cheese croquette (I love me some croquettes). I got in my car to pick up my food. Unfortunately, Papa's is in a very nondescript plaza. They look like new warehouse type of building strips. I found Papa's in the northern most corner of the plaza and walked in. Adorable! Small, but set up tastefully. I saw many patrons sitting down and enjoying their lunches. A gentleman who I assume was the owner greeted me so graciously and was so sweet during the whole transaction. My food was ready, I paid, grabbed a take home menu (do this as their online menu is out of date), and drove home. At home I open up a bag filled with an absurd amount of food. I mean seriously. Like three meals worth of food (two if you are super hungry). My chicken was absolutely amazing. Covered in a salad and vinaigrette and it all went so well together. My yellow rice with the beans were perfect. The plantains may be my favorite part! The croquettes were also sooo tasty. I am a BIG fan. This is my new lunch spot, no doubt about it. Helpful tip: You can order your dinner order at lunchtime for pickup later and they will charge you the lunch price when doing so!

Had been craving for a Paella for a while , so chose to visit Papa's Tapas (after yelping!!!) in Pineapple Grove, Delray Beach. It's a small beautiful place , away from the crazy crowd on Atlantic Avenue. Right away we ordered the seafood paella and the server said its going to take 40 minutes to cook it. We had bought our own bottle of wine and she readily accepted to open it for us (informed us there was a corkage fee of $15). Also ordered the steamed calamari and Olive tray from the tapas menu to have with our wine. Everything we ordered was excellent. Could not have a better Paella loaded with plenty of shrimp, calamari and lobster. It was amazingly good !!! The service was absolutely delightful. We were seated right away and our server informed us she was one of the sister who owned and operated the place. She also informed us that her father was the chef and the other sisters were cooking and expediting food. There was definitely a genuine hospitality and pride in her work and we enjoyed every bit of it. Although the menu was a bit pricey, but still cannot wait to bring my friends back and try everything else that the restaurant has to offer.
(4)Jen K.
It took a solid 5 minutes for our server to greet my table (or more, but it felt like a really long time). It was around 5 pm and there was maybe 1 other table in the restaurant so I thought that was weird..the hostess actually came to the table and greeted us after she was the one to seat us. That was nice of her but why wasn't the server the one to come over? However after that everything went smoothly so no big deal. Pretty good food, but the prices are a little high for what it is.

Firstly, we have been coming here since they moved from their previous location. We have sent many friends, colleagues here also. The food is always very good & consistent. The owners are very nice. This has always been a nice restaurant to go to as it is away from all the "hype" on Atlantic Ave. One of the nice things about this restaurant WAS there pricing of the food. Not to expensive, not to cheap. Very fair for the quality and size of the portions. Not anymore. We were there the past week and were told there is a new menu. Ok. It is basically the same as the old menu but with a staggering price hike. I mean we do understand that prices go up from time to time but in all our years of traveling and eating out this is ridiculous. Everything on the menus has gone up in price considerably. Not just a couple of bucks but $5 - $8 per appetizer. Then mains an average of $8. No bigger portions just bigger prices. The point is if I am paying nearly $30 for a small skirt steak I may as well go to one of the more upscale restaurants and pay very little more for a filet steak. Small lamb chops are now $33, pork chop $28, etc, etc. They have grown very quickly and cater to lots of big parties of an evening now which mean there is a very, very long wait for your food if you are just 2 or 4. Sadly, we shall not be going here as often as we have in the last. I would rather spend the same amount of money in one of the more upscale restaurants with better service. Be aware that the website pricing is out of date. Everything is at least $5 - $9 dollars more per item, appetizers, main, etc. We shall return but no as frequently. Shame they have become greedy and I do think that (especially out of season) this will affect their loyal following.
(3)Andre L.
In its new spot in downtown Delray Beach, Papa's now has much more room and a much bigger spot than its previous location. The food is still consistently solid and definitely worth considering for a lunch or dinner spot if you're in the area.
(4)Car Art L.
The first time we came it was AWSOME and the last 3 times we came it wasn't so great. Service is terrible. There is a waitress here that is so UNFRIENDLY. We were being seated and as soon as the hostess was bringing us to our table she stopped us dead in our tracks before we could sit asked if we had a reservation and we said no and she just walked away. I thought that was strange, she was our waitress the last time we were here and she was rude that day as well.
(3)Master D.
First of all, Finding decent food at anything near a reasonable price in Pineapple Grove is a lost cause for the most part. Papas Tapas has great Chicken Quesadilla on the lunch menu its large enough the I usually hold half for dinner. On top of that the price is less than $10.00. I normally just place my order and walk over, sometimes I sit there and eat at the bar other times I carry out. The one thing that is always good is the food. Bottom line great food great price. A+

Truly authentic Spanish food! Simply incredible food and a wonderful family run business. Three of us, who have spent quite a bit of time in Spain, had dinner here. We can all attest that what we ate was the real thing and not some south Florida knockoff. Highly recommended!

Just by luck, I happened upon Papa's Tapas Restaurant while exploring the internet. For a first time visit, I was very impressed by this family-owned business. The décor was attractive, the place very clean, and the food ranged from very good to outstanding. Since I was drawn to the stylish bar area, I gravitated there. Besides, isn't that what people in Spain do when they go to a tapas bar? In following the Spanish tradition, for my meal, I ordered a myriad of tapas. I got a platter of queso manchego Spanish cheese with a colorful mixture of olives, jamon Serrano with olives, roasted shredded pork Montaditos, the Spanish tortilla (similar to an Italian frittata), Olivia's Cazuelita, sautéed calamari and, finally, the mejillones mussels. To wash it all down, I was recommended a Tempranillo red wine from Spain that was simply scrumptious! Hands down, my favorite was the roasted shredded pork Montaditos. It was well seasoned and bursting with flavor. As for the seafood dishes, it was a toss-up. All were equally good. But since I had gotten the sautéed calamari first, the cazuelita was a bit redundant, since it also contained calamari as well. But, that was My mistake. The cazuelita was quite good. The mussels were served in a rich, savory tomato sauce. Although this dish was very tasty, I would have preferred the mussels a little less cooked. If I had to pick out a dish that I liked the least, it would be the tortilla. I felt it could have had a little more egg. But then again, that was the first time I ever had a Spanish tortilla. Maybe I was expecting an Italian frittata like my Sicilian grandma used to make. Nevertheless, I DID enjoy it. To top off my meal, I had a perfectly sweetened double espresso. This is a place where I felt very comfortable. The service was very good, and the staff was very friendly. The menu was quite extensive, with Spanish dishes as well as dishes that I would associate with Spanish America. For me, this is a restaurant that bears repeated visits- if anything, just for the sake of sampling the many culinary delights that the Papa's Tapas has to offer.

Tried this place on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar for happy hour, which includes wine and very yummy red or white sangria (we shared half a carafe of the red). It's a good thing we came in when we did, about half an hour later every seat in the place was filled including at the bar. The weekends must be cranking! Elena was the bartender and our server and she was awesome. We split a few of the happy hour apps: championes (mushrooms sautéed with olive oil and LOTS of garlic) there are quite spicy, chorizo with roasted red peppers, beef empandas, and cheese croquetas. Everything was very good, but my favorites were the croquetes and mushrooms. For dessert we split the flan and had cafe con leche. Both were tasty, the flan had a touch of cinnamon which I'd never had before. I look forward to going back and trying other things on their extensive menu.
(5)KC M.
Food & Service were great. Chorizo & Empanadas were yummy. We sat outside - the volume inside was a bit unbearable - if you'd actually like to have any form of a conversation. That being said - I'd go back again either when it wasn't so crowded or on a nice day to sit outside. Also - would skip the sangria - wasn't a fan.... but the staff was fantastic!
(4)Liv M.
Superb service! Had the mahi and my bf had the Cuban wrap. Both delicious and spot on!

I love coming to this restaurant when I visit Delray. Let me say first that the atmosphere here is great. It doesn't look too fancy from the outside but it's always inviting and fun once you get inside. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. Get to know Annie, the manager, as she always takes time to get to know her guests even when the restaurant is packed! There is also lots of cool artwork on the walls to look at while you are waiting for your food and enjoying a refreshing glass of sangria (definitely get the sangria). Okay, now let's get down to business: the food. They have a great selection of Spanish inspired dishes to choose from. The tapas menu seems like it changes quite a bit but I usually enjoy the empanadas. For an entree, I am a sucker for seafood and I especially enjoy their Cazuela dishes and of course the Paella. You really can't go wrong here as every dish I've tried here has been outstanding.
(5)Jennifer R.
(5)Victoria S.

Most amazing paella. I have been waiting my whole life for a place to open in Palm beach that can make a real paella. It leaves you wanting more!!
(5)Tiffany W.
Amazing Spanish traditional place. Priced on the higher side. The fish portion weren't as big as expected.
(4)Jacquelyn M.

(3)Joe B.
Great food! Their prices are a little high, but the food is excellent. Hard to believe this is the same restaurant that was on lake Ida and congress not too long ago.
(4)Carolina L.

Cabeza OUT!

WOW!!!! That the ONLY WAY to describe this Incredibly Sensational & Most Amazing Restaurant,That is Family Owned & Operated, is from the time you enter the door if this Award Winning Restaurant.

The food is great the empanadas are great they put raisins in the beef ones the chicken cascades are very good Too much cilantro in the chicken soup for be but it was still tasty will come back

(5)Julie A.

(5)Mike C.

I absolutely love Papas Tapas! The service is top notch and the owner is very personable. The sangria was delicious as well as my meal fish and shrimp. The food wasn't overly seasoned or oily. Everything tasted fresh.

What a wonderful surprise.... What from the street looks like a strip mall fast fooderia, inside is a charming authentic spanish reastaurant, with perfectly cooked paella! Only disappointment was they had run out if tortilla espanol, so I guess we're just going to have to go back!

Superb service! Had the mahi and my bf had the Cuban wrap. Both delicious and spot on!

In its new spot in downtown Delray Beach, Papa's now has much more room and a much bigger spot than its previous location. The food is still consistently solid and definitely worth considering for a lunch or dinner spot if you're in the area.

(5)Brent S.
Truly authentic Spanish food! Simply incredible food and a wonderful family run business. Three of us, who have spent quite a bit of time in Spain, had dinner here. We can all attest that what we ate was the real thing and not some south Florida knockoff. Highly recommended!

Stopped by here on a whim and was really impressed with the sandwiches and salads. Very casual. Would be interested to check out for dinner. In a strip mall with a few outdoor tables. I had a pollo a la plancha sandwich and Jeff had a really fresh salad that was top notch. Service was great...they went the extra mile.
(4)Linda M.
Tapas was great. My husband had the octopus and I had the Serrano ham and chorizo with cheese and it was terrific . We both got filled up. We recommend this place
(5)Cecil B.
First time here food average at best. Calamari was bad smelled it coming to the table did not ask to have it removed from my check but it was but first I had to hear from the owners daughter that her father had taken it out that morning and the whole family tasted it and disagreed with me. So much for the customer always being right I will not return!
(1)Chris D.
Don't get it. Always packed but the food is very average. Way more selection of superior tapas at Ceviche. Also the Paella is far better at Cabana. We always eat at the bar everywhere we go. The big male bartender at Papas Is a complete jerk, no personality at all. Who would hire this guy to deal with people?
(2)Kathleen D.
I think the food and service are fabulous here. I was in the other night Deanna is the best waitress in Delray. Mike and Michael at the bar rock!! Kate D
(5)Erika H.
Great food. Great service. Awesome atmosphere. Tip: for dinner paella takes about an hour and a half to prepare. If u call at least an hour before your reservation, they will begin preparing it for you so your not waiting the full hour and a half while sitting at the table. Extremely accommodating!!!
(5)Marla S.
Looked through the window and saw a friend sitting at the bar - that's a good sign! The chairs are very comfortable (another good sign) and the staff is friendly - big smiles from all the ladies! We ordered a half carafe of red sangria - yummy and full of tiny little pieces of fruit; lots of apple, which gave it a nice, sweet flavor. We shared three tapas: empanada & croqueta combo, Olivia's Cazuelita (shrimp, scallops, calamari & chorizo garlic sautee) and mussels in pisto sauce, which was flippin' delicious! Pisto is so unique, haven't had anything else like it locally - warm, flavorful, great mouth feel! We saw paella being served twice - the server did a once around with the steaming, beautiful dish and everyone in the restaurant clapped! It was a lot of fun, and we were so jealous we didn't order it - next time! Had delicious cafe con leche and tres leches for dessert - yum. We intended on just having a drink and an app before maybe going somewhere else, but there was no need! And price! We both ate and were totally satiated for right about $60 - such a deal for delicious food! So lucky to have a great new place like this in the neighborhood - with all the overpriced, average fair food coming into town, Papa's Tapas is the family run, tasty, food-made-with-love-and-pride addition we need! Definitely worth checking out, you will enjoy!

My wife ordered the fiesta wrap with fish and plantains and it was excellent and by itself it would be 5 stars. However I had the Cuban sandwich and it was very average. Another complaint is that the food came out really slow. We were there at 3 on a Friday and they were pretty busy so I don't know if they maybe just didn't have enough cooks at that time, but plan on waiting on your food.

I had dinner here with my family for the first time on Wednesday night, 27 November 2013. I cannot wait to have the opportunity to return. The Tortilla Española Casera, Homemade Spanish Omelette, was absolutely sensational. At the end of our meal, one of Papa's daughters, Yvette, came to our table to introduce herself and ask how we enjoyed our meal. She is lovely, and it turns out she was the chef. Meeting Yvette was as wonderful as our meal had been. She and her family are warm, friendly, and absolutely as hospitable as can be. Papa's Tapas is clearly a labor of love for the family, and we feel the love. It pays off deliciously!
(4)Neal B.
Not bad ... Not great. Crowded with an older crowd. Very high noise level. It is called a tapas place but the tapa list is very limited and mostly sea food ... Not enough variety of tapas to make for a second visit. And the bread ... Like packages of frozen dough to make little rolls ... Not worthy of a Spanish restaurant that calls itself a tapas place. Did not have the paella ... But noticed that it was flat and lacking a crust on the bottom. Friendly service.

I had a wonderful lunch today! Great service from the beginning as the staff was kind to ask the kitchen after the lunch period to serve lunch. The chicken manigua caught my eye. The dish was flavorful! The chicken breast was tender and juicy. The pisto sauce to accompany the chicken was fresh and delicious. Even the seasoning and spices for the yellow rice and black beans were vibrant. I'm a big fan of Spanish cuisine and they nailed the flavors. I enjoyed each item individually and the burst of flavors when combined in various ways. I was full and wanted to keep eating away. I look forward to tasting my leftovers. I recommend Papa's Tapas!

I live and work within walking distance of this restaurant and I've had lunch there with colleagues, with family and alone. Each time the food was hot, fresh and abundant. The service was perfect, not overwhelming but professional, fast and super friendly. Perfect "side street" spot that I would recommend to everyone.
(5)Joel S.
It's in a little strip mall, just outside the hustle and bustle of Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, Florida. It is Spanish food, tempered with a Dominican flavor, that sets it apart. The flavoring is just right and the presentation is excellent. If you're in a hurry, this is the wrong place as all of the food is cooked fresh, from scratch and that takes time. Enjoy a drink while you wait for a most pleasant meal. They serve tapas, both hot and cold, but you can order main plates, sandwiches and salads as well. Leave some room for desert. Truly excellent and we can't wait to try it again and bring along some friends.
(5)Elle A.
Had lunch here and the food was pretty good. The basa filet was tasty. Service was a bit slow, and the tres leches cake tasted strangely of cinnamon, and the milk sauce it was soaked in was very watery. I will still go back to sample some more entrees, as I enjoyed my meal.

This was to be our party of four's much-anticipated first visit to Papa's Tapas. Arrived a few minutes before our 7:30 pm reservation. Hostess greeted us, told us our wait would be 3 - 5 minutes since a table was about to clear. All seemed well. By 7:50 we still were not seated. Finally, sat at our table at 8:00. We did not see a waitperson until 8:15 when a lady wearing a different shirt than other servers (a supervisor?) approached, and asked if we had ordered yet. When she was informed that we had been sitting for 15 min. without receiving attention from anyone, she offered to take our drink order, and got a busboy to bring us some water. We gave her our order for drinks. Close to 8:30 we still had no drinks. During all this time, the noise level was starting to get to all of us. We knew this because we all started to discuss the type of sound absorbing material the restaurant should install. Noise level for a restaurant without any entertainment is extremely high. By unanimous decision our party decided to leave. As we were leaving, to be polite, I saw the person who took our drink order, and told her we were leaving. Her only concern was that she already had started "polishing our glasses." Why was she doing this so long after order was taken (were there not enough glasses, and she had to wash, dry and "polish" some)? Rather than a semblance of understanding, we were rudely chastised by her for leaving. We wound up going to an excellent restaurant across the street. Note to restaurant: if customers have an extraordinary waiting time to be seated after having been told wait would be short, and haven't complained about it other than asking (twice) how our table was doing, perhaps offer a sangria or something to compensate for the long wait; install some sound absorbing material. We already have told many of our friends of our experience.

Bad experience. We were looking forward to come to this place. I made a reservation , we get there and sat. Here comes this big dude asking if we wanted something to drink. We already thought of a pitcher of red sangria. He comes back two minutes later saying that he only had white sangria and swearing that that one is the best, which I don't agree at all. Since we were already there we went ahead and order it. From my seat I can see this dude cutting some lemons and oranges and just dropping it into the jar. Comes to the table with two empty glasses. He started serving the sangria. One glad had 80 of the small and sad looking left overs of oranges and lemons. Mine had probably 5 tiny pieces floating and no taste at all. We asked why he couldn't make just red sangria, he said the have already run out of it, but he didn't have any problem putting together the worst white sangria ever tasted. The girl I was with very disappointed asked why this sangria had almost no fruit, to which he answered "do you want me to cut some Apples for you?" COME ON!!! REALLY DUDE????!!!!! I don't know much about restaurant but I know if my clients want red sangria and I run out of it, I go and make some more god damn it. It says a lot about your service and how far you are willing to go in order to have costumer satisfied. The menu had only a few tapas to choose from ( so why they name it Papa's Tapas?) and were not really that great. Then he kept bringing to the table this cold orange looking sauce, tomatoes and garlic based, terrible!! Anyways, I drove from fort lauderdale and I thought it was just another ordinary restaurant. Nothing special. But hey, that's was just me. Other reviews seemed to had a great experience.
